All About the Adoption Process at Animal Talk Rescue:

Animal Talk Rescue is a "no-kill" 501 (C)(3) rescue.

Kittens and cats are accepted from their legal caretakers (we do not purchase them) by appointment on Sundays. Orphaned (6 weeks and under) kittens are accepted at anytime. Due to our limited space we can only accept them as we find homes for others. We cannot accept lost and found animals.

All kittens and cats are screened for feline leukemia and other health problems. They then start a quarantine for at least 7 days (some situations require a longer quarantine period). The "Ready approx. date indicates when the quarantine period is up. No one other than staff is allowed to handle them during this time. During these 7 days, they receive their first vaccines and worming, a fungal and flea bath, Frontline, Avid Microchip and any other medical treatment necessary.

Monday mornings, new arrivals, who we feel are within a week of being ready to go to new homes, will be on view and available to be put on "hold". "Holds" are accepted when a person is at least 99% sure that this is the kitten or cat they are wanting. One "hold" per person unless you are looking for 2. We do accept other "holds" numbered in order. If a quarantine period must be extended, only the first "hold" is notified. Other holds will only be notified if the kitten or cat becomes available. A "hold" is good only until 1/2 hour before closing the day the quarantine period is up. It is very important that they get picked up when ready, as there are other kittens or cats waiting for that cage so that they can find homes.

All kittens/cats receive a Free bag of Nutro kitten food, a 2 week health guarantee, and a free vet exam through Northgate Vet Clinic. Cats and kittens are spayed/neutered before they leave. In special cases some kittens under 6 months are sent home with a spay or certificates good through Dr. Kunnen at the Spay and and Neuter Clinic, but these are rare. Our adoption fee is based on the cost of caring for 1 kitten/cat for 1 week (although many are here for longer).

Thank you to Dr. Karen Obegi, Nutro, Mountain Cat, Northgate Veterinary Clinic & Dr. Kunnen of the Spay Neuter Clinic, for their contributions. All other care & medical costs are supported by: Your contributions, Animal Talk Rescue and Animal Talk Pet Shop.

Animal Talk Rescue placed into loving homes approximately 400 kittens and cats last year.

All adoption fees go directly to Animal Talk Rescue.

Due to time constraints the adoption center is closed Mondays and closes 1/2 hour before the close of Animal Talk Pet Shop.
